Meet Lucas

Percussionist, Composer & Teacher

Percussion is fundamental for music across cultures all over the globe. Rhythm shapes the foundation of music, creating pulse that aligns all musicians. For many generations percussion traditions have been passed from teacher to student. Building a web for rhythmic structures and ideas.

I study the percussion traditions from the world with a focus on the eastern hemisphere. I incorporate it with western classical percussion, other disciplines, electronics and artistic spaces.

I feel grateful to share the extraordinary world of percussion with you, it has lit fire within my heart and I am more than excited to share this instrument to the world.

About Me

About Me

Lucas Jansen (1999) is a percussionist, maker and teacher. Drawn to drums from a young age, Lucas left the drumset and developed himself into a global multi-percussionist. Deeply inspired by percussion traditions from around the world, he works on exploring their possibilities in combination with other musicians, art disciplines, electronics and artistic spaces.

Experimental and open minded his works revolve around combining percussion with other instrumentalists and art forms such as dance, digital art, and spoken word. In his works he blends these worlds together drawing the audience into a mirrored world of what it means to be human.

Lucas graduated from the Conservatory of Utrecht in August 2024 from the study Musician 3.0. He is now focused on deepening his artistic voice and studying the traditions from the East.
